Our History

WC4C is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization founded in 2008 by Mary Rodriguez. With the help of community leaders, Mrs. Rodriguez formed a coalition of friends and supporters to begin to address the need for affordable quality child care in Williamson County.  Our organization was founded based on the personal experience of Mary Rodriguez. In 1983, Mrs. Rodriguez was a single mother of three children under the age of seven. After 19 years of marriage, she found herself unemployed with a high school diploma and minimal child support. Although she qualified for government assistance, her hope for a brighter future for herself and her children seemed bleak.

“When a young, single mom finds a job or goes back to school, how does she pay for child care?” Mary Rodriguez

Fortunately, she learned about a nonprofit agency in her area that offered subsidized child care for mothers like Mary, who needed to work or go back to school in order to provide for their families. With the assurance that her young children were in the care of qualified professionals, Mary was able to return to school, earn her degree, and secure a job that provided for her family.

“I will always be thankful for the help that I was given and now I am passionate about helping other mothers in my community who face the same challenges.” Mary Rodriguez

Mrs. Rodriguez formed WC4C based on her own experience and with the knowledge that many families in Williamson County are faced with similar obstacles. Finding and keeping a job or completing education or training are out of reach to a parent without the ability to pay for affordable, accessible and quality child care.

Our primary goals at WC4C are providing the highest possible quality of child care for Williamson County and developing a comprehensive subsidy program. WC4C is positioned to positively impact the overall quality of life for families throughout the county through the collaborative efforts of local, public, and private organizations, businesses, churches, and individuals who share the same passion and vision. Together, we are a community that supports children and families.
