Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers and Twos Training
May – June 2010
Workers at child care programs that provide subsidized care through child care services were eligible for this free training. Forty teachers in the rural capital area attended 26 hours of free training on four Saturdays during the month of May and June at First United Methodist Church of Georgetown.
WC4C’s Executive Director, Kathy Keller is pleased with the outcomes of the training. “Cindy Rodriguez, a certified infant & toddler trainer, led these classes, and kept things lively with her hands-on approach. Teachers were engaged throughout the sessions with open discussions, laughter, and a variety of group activities using markers, easel paper and toys as props for group presentations. “
Thanks to the generous grant, teachers also received plenty of resources to take back to their classrooms, including
The Creative Curriculum Resource Guide for Infants, Toddlers and Twos (a $45 values), classroom toys valued at $50 from Lakeshore Learning Store, and a complete developmentally appropriate classroom material kit of their choice, valued at $500.00. These resources will become a part of everyday operations in area child care centers and make it easy and fun for teachers to implement the new learning activities.
Lori Price of Hutto who works at Lifepoint Christian Academy said, “Thank you so much WC4C for providing this comprehensive training! It has been wonderful to learn how to provide quality care & education for this age group. It is so difficult to find training specialized to the infant/toddler/two age group and I find a lot of people are not truly sensitive to their needs. I am returning to my center with lots of new information! The most important is really tuning into the children and responding to their needs.”

“Early Words” Pre-K Literacy Training – October 2010 – April 2011 - WC4C in partnership with United Way of Williamson County is providing 20 training hours for 40 Pre-k child care providers throughout Williamson County.
